Understory Brewing Cacao is crafted to be brewed much like coffee or tea (with a few subtle and nuanced differences).

There are a variety of familiar ways to brew a delicious 'cup-a-cao', and some methods are better than others.

We highly encourage you to experiment! And if you discover a new brewing method or special concoction, we'd love to hear about it.

BREWING TIPS:

  • Adjust tablespoons for strength
  • Prepare and enjoy as you would a cup of coffee
  • Add milk/sweetener for a delicious hot cocoa vibe!
  • Mix and brew with coffee grounds for a delightful 'caofee!'
  • We advise against using an espresso machine for ground cacao because its natural cocoa butter content can clog the filter, leading to poor extraction.
